Ahern, Annette Jean, 51, of South Side Harbour, Antigonish County, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Oakville, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Reverend Kenneth and Alice (McLeod) Campbell, and step-daughter of the late Norma Campbell (nee Nandrea), who helped to raise Annette from the age of two.

Annette received her Masters Degree in Church History from Wheaton College in Chicago in 1982 and her Masters Degree in Religious Studies from McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, in 1983 before moving on to achieve her PhD in Religious Studies from McMaster in 1990. In 1991, she joined the Religious Studies Department of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, where she was a dedicated professor, writer, and researcher. Annette was a loving wife and mother and an active member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Antigonish. She was a friend to many.

She is survived by her husband Daniel; sons Brendan and Aidan; siblings Jennifer Bew, Acton, ON, Michelle Campbell, Kathy Bubel and David Campbell, all of Vancouver, BC.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Tuesday in the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be held Wednesday in St. Francis Xavier University Chapel at 11:00am, Reverend Dawn Leger presiding.
