Mabel Florence ANKER
ANKER, Mabel Florence (Myette), 94, South River
Road, Antigonish County passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital, New
Glasgow on August 30, 2010 after a short illness.
Born in Tracadie, she was a daughter of the late Jeffrey and Mary
Jean (Durley) Myette. Mabel was a veteran of WWII.
She met her husband, Phil, also a veteran, in Montreal during the war
years. They lived and worked in Montreal, New York
and thirty-five years in Los Angeles, retiring to Antigonish
in the 1970s. Mabel's passions were boating and waterskiing,
which she did late into her life, playing cards and bingo, and she
enjoyed trips to the casino with friends.
She
is survived by her husband of 65 years, Phil; brother,
Vincent Myette, Whitby, Ont.; sister, Rita, R.K. MacDonald Nursing
Home, Antigonish; a number of nieces and nephews; and many
friends.
She was predeceased by brothers:
Ernest, Bernard, Howard, Andrew and Raymond; sisters: Mary, Margaret
and Sarah.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry
Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Thursday from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Peter's
Church, Tracadie on Friday at 11:00 am with Father John Barry
presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha's Hospital
Foundation.
