Bernice TATE
TATE, Bernice, 86, of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow and
formerly of South Lochaber, Guysborough Co. died on September 4, 2010
in the Glen Haven Manor.
Born in South Lochaber
she was a daughter of the late Geordie and Edna (Smith) Malloy. She
devoted her working life to her family as a homemaker. Bernice had a
great love for animals. She cared for stray cats and fed wild birds
and raccoons. During the second world war Bernice knitted socks and
mittens for soldiers serving overseas and also corresponded with
soldiers who replied to the notes she tucked inside of her
knitting.
She is survived by daughter Sharon J.
Tate, New Glasgow; sons: Terrance, South Lochaber, Dennis (Maria),
Indian Harbor Lake; grandchildren: Jacki (Dave MacKenzie), Beverly
(J.D. Brown), Zachary, Abigail; great grandson, Shawn; step-grandsons:
Juan Martin, Nicholas; former daughter-in-law Jane, Mulgrave.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert and brother
William.
Visitation today ( Monday )in
C.L.Curry Funeral Home, from 2 to 4 and 7to 9 pm. Graveside service
Tuesday at 2 pm in Stewart Cemetery, South Lochaber, with Rev. Freda
Steeves presiding. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made
