MacDonald, Robert Jerome "Rob", 35, of Calgary, AB, and formerly of Antigonish passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2012, in Southwood Hospice, Calgary, after a short, brave, and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Antigonish on June 8, 1976, he was a son of Isabel (Smith) and the late Angus MacDonald.

Rob graduated from Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School in Antigonish and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Francis Xavier University in 1999.  He continued his education by going to SAIT in Calgary and took one year of architectural drafting.  He was employed with Enmax for the City of Calgary as an Advanced Technology Analyst.  Rob enjoyed swimming, sketch drawing, computer technology, and loved camping in the western mountains with his many friends.

He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 4 years, Alison (Relf); mother, Isabel, Antigonish; brother, Gordon (Laura), Calgary; father-and-mother-in-law, Ted and Ginny Relf, brother-in-law Mathew (Sarah) and children Levi and Johan; sister-in-law Donna (Kevin) and children Hudson, Emma, and McKenzie; sister-in-law, Sarah; special friend and nephew, Zachary; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to mention. 

He was predeceased by his father, Angus (2008), paternal grandparents Randall Rory and Irene (Baxter) MacDonald, maternal grandparents, William and Florence (Kelly) Smith; and uncles Dougall, John, and Leo MacDonald. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, in St. Ninian Cathedral at 11:00am with Reverend Tom MacNeil presiding.  Burial to follow at a later date.
