Vosman, William Marinus "Bill", 83, St. Andrews, Antigonish County, passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2012.

Born in Wythmen, Holland, he was the son of the late Johanes and Antonia Vosman.

Bill immigrated to Canada in 1955 with his bride of 10 days, landing at Pier 21 in Halifax and then bought a farm in St. Andrews. It was Bill's passion for farming which brought him to Canada, and the farm was very close to his heart. He was so proud that it is still farmed by his son to this day. Bill was a life long member of the federation of agriculture, and a devoted Catholic, he was a member of St. Andrew’s Parish. Before his failing health, he enjoyed bowling, curling, hockey, and also a good game of outdoor soccer with his children and neighbour children in his early years, even after a hard day in the fields. After retirement, his horses were his passion. Bill had an amazing sense of humour and great wit. When the room was filled with his family and the people he loved, it filled his spirit.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gerritdina "Diny" (Nyboer) Vosman. His children Mary (Greg) Williams, Amherst; Joan (John Archie) MacGillivary, Johnny (Jacqueline), and Bernie, St.Andrews; Willy (Janice), Labrador City; Francis (Janet) Halifax; Elizabeth (Paul) Smith, Truro; Anita (Mike) O’Rourke, Sydney. He is also survived by brother Herman, Luxembourg; sisters, Mies, Wilhlmina and Annie, Holland; 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by brothers, Gerrit, Johan,Bernard, Hein and Tony.

Visitation will be in C.L Curry’s Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm . Funeral Mass will held Saturday at 11:00am in St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Andrews, with Rev. Charlie Cameron presiding. Burial in South River Cemetery.
