Peter Anthony "Tony" Benoit
It is with great
sadness we announce Tony's passing on July 19, 2012 in St.
Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, at the age of 85.
Born in Pomquet, he
was the son of Walter and Florence (Venedam) Benoit.
Tony was a rural mail driver for many years. His last employer was Antigonish Golf and Country Club for 17 years, from where he retired in 1991.
He is survived by his
wife of 58 years, Kathleen (Poirier); daughters, Camilla
(Tony) Sampson, Havre Boucher and Elise (Stephen)
Levangie, Pomquet. Two grandsons, his pride and joy, Craig and
Marc Levangie. He is survived by his sisters; Bea Young,
Somerville, Mass.; Dolores (Cyril) LeVangie, Frankville;
Pauline Pascall, Burlington, Ontario; and a
sister-in-law Sadie Benoit, Dagger Woods; brothers, Walter,
Jr. (Shirley), Coppercliff, Ontario; Charles (Theresa),
Sudbury, Ontario; Jerome (Lucille) D’Escousse, Cape
Breton.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Everett (wife, Peggy), Ronaldo, and Lloyd; brother-in-law Irwin Pascall.
Visitation will be on
Saturday
from 2-4 and 7-9 in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College
Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will take place on Sunday
at 2:00
p.m. at Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet, Reverend P.J.
Baccardax officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
