DeGruchy, Anna
"Winnifred", age 81, of Havre Boucher passed
away peacefully on August 9, 2015 at home surrounded by family and
friends.
Born in Cape Jack, Antigonish Co., she was a daughter
of the late Paul Jeffrey (1939) and Mary Ellen (Melong) DeCoste
(1975).
In her earlier years "Aunt Winnie" worked as
a housekeeper in the New Glasgow area and later at Acadia Seafoods in
Mulgrave. She loved all kinds of animals, especially her pigeons. She
looked forward to her "Tim" runs on a regular basis. Aunt
Winnie was a caring person. She was care giver to her mother and
father in law until their passing.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate
family. She is survived by her children, Susan DeGruchy, Paul DeGruchy
and Judy Layes; grandchildren: Morgan and Darren DeGruchy and their
mom, Lucy Greencorn; Janea and Justin Layes and their dad, Jimmy
Layes; special niece, Debbie White; God children: Colin DeCoste,
Clifton DeCoste, Eric Melong, Winnie Pelrine and April Burns; sister
in law, Kaye DeCoste; Winnie's husband's brothers, Johnnie and Charlie
DeGruchy, Havre Boucher and her husband's sisters: Hazel Pettipas,
Stella Avery and Priscilla Meagher.
She was predeceased by her husband Lester (2003);
sisters, Mary DeCoste (1973); Stella Pelrine(1986); brother, Paul
(1969); nephews: Ignatius, Xavier, Lester and Roger and niece,
Marlene.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and
Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in St. Paul's Centre, Havre
Boucher. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 am in
St. Paul's Church, Havre Boucher with Reverend Allan MacPhie
presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
