Simpson, Bessie May, age 88, of Manchester, Guysborough Co. passed away, surrounded by family on August 17, 2015, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Bessie, the daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Pyle, was born in Boylston, NS where she grew up working in the family general store. During WWII, she worked on munitions in a factory in New Glasgow prior to marrying Douglas Simpson, a local soldier who returned home after the war.  Bessie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she enjoyed spoiling with creations from her kitchen.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Mona), Robert, Gail, Sharlene (Norman), Marilyn, and Carol. Grandchildren, Heather (Allan), Matthew, Heidi (Alex), Luke, Edmund, and Josh (Virginia). Great-grandchildren, Reese and Owen. Siblings, Gordon and Bertha. Son-in-law, Grant.

Predeceased by her husband, Douglas; daughter, Geraldine; sister, Esther.

A private family funeral will be held with burial in Boylston United Church Cemetery and donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
