Clayton Owen Sawler, 86, of Port Hawkesbury Nursing
Home, died at the nursing home on Saturday, September
19th, 2015.
Born in Liverpool, NS, on April 22, 1929, he was the
son of the late Gladys Mae Levy and Harvey Owen
Sawler.
At a young age, Clayton was a member of the Merchant
Navy. He then became an electrician with Stelco in Hamilton, ON. He
retired from Stora Forest Industries in Port Hawkesbury, NS. Clayton
loved to hunt and fish. It was that passion that brought him to Nova
Scotia where he recreationally fished
lobster.
Clayton is survived by his
daughters Gay Elizabeth Thibeau, Riverview, NB; and Diedra Marie
Fougere, Dartmouth; son, Harvey Sawler (Charlette), PEI; sister, Ruby
Davis (Eric), Liverpool, NS; grandchildren, Jeremy Thibeau (Amie)
Riverview, Brandon Thibeau (Janik), Riverview, Brad Brow,
Halifax; Sheldon Brow, Halifax; Kirstin Nagy (Jamie), California;
Chantal Fougere, Tracadie; Shannon Brown (Chris), Fredericton; Vanessa
Cronkite (John), Fredericton; and great-grandchildren, Maddy and Alex
Brown and Layla Nagy
Clayton was pre-deceased by wife, Anne Elizabeth
"Betty" Sawler; sisters, Blanche and Madeline; stepfather,
Wesley Levy; stepsisters, Lottie and Dorothy; stepbrothers, Arnold,
Howard, and Sinclair.
Visitation will be held Tuesday in St. Paul's Centre,
Havre Boucher, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be held
Wednesday at 11:00am in St. Paul's Church, Reverend Allan MacPhie
presiding.
