Walsh, Eugene
"Tilly", 65, of Antigonish passed
away peacefully on September 26, 2015 in St. Martha's Regional
Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by his loving
family.
Born
in Antigonish, he was a son of the Late Ernie and Christine
(MacPherson)
Walsh.
Tilly
had a passion for all sports including bowling, darts, softball and
golf, but he had a strong dedication for basketball. He was a
volunteer coach in basketball from 1970 through to 2012 with various
provincial and regional titles and a national championship with the
Mini Knicks in 1976. He had a strong start, making the school
basketball team in Grade 7 and went on to score 82 points in a single
game in 1969.
Tilly
was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who
sincerely loved his family and enjoyed helping the community in any
way he was able.
He is
survived by his wife of 36 years, Lorraine (Breen); son, Bradley
(Brittany), Halifax; Jarrett, at home; daughter, Kailee (Greg),
Antigonish; grandchildren, Tigh, Nola and Daxton; sister, Martina
(Regis) Kell, Antigonish; and many brothers and sisters - in-
law..
He
was predeceased by a son, Johnathan (2012); brothers,Sonny, Jimmy and
Blaise.
A
special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Martha's Regional
Hospital for helping us through this difficult time with their
compassion and
guidance..
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today
(Monday) in the C. L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 am in
St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish. Cremation to
follow.
