years
It is with deep sadness and regret that the
O’Connor family announces the death of David Leo
O’Connor, formerly of North Riverside, Guysborough County
and a current resident of Antigonish. He died on November 7, 2015, at
St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
He was born April 10, 1932, to the Late John and Mary (Marr)
O’Connor, the youngest of eight children. He was born and
grew up in Guysborough Intervale. With the exception of a few years
working in Ontario, he spent his life working and raising his family
in his beloved birthplace. David retired in 1994 from the Department
of Transportation.
He married Josephine Rogers in 1964. They raised four
children, Colleen (Terry Kuehne) British Columbia, Gerard and David
both in Nova Scotia, and Margo, British Columbia.
He is survived by his immediate family above, as well as,
three grandchildren, Tanner, Niah and Brooklyn; three sisters,
Margaret (Kenneth Connolly), Elizabeth (Sam Crowshaw) and Katherine
Fitzpatrick; sister in law, Agnes O'Connor, twenty-four nieces and
nephews and a large extended family.
He is predeased by his parents, his four brothers, Bernard,
Joseph, John and Lawrence; his brother in law Robert; his sister in
law Evelyn; two cherished nephews, Jerome and Peter.
A dedicated family man, a devout Irish Catholic and a staunch
Conservative; his determination, honor and hard work were the backbone
to his life. These traits gracefully guided him as he embraced his
illness and death.
Visitation will be on November 11, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. and
7-9 p.m. at C. L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held at St.
Patrick’s Church, Guysborough Intervale on November 12,
2015, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel MacLennan officiating. Burial
will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the
Palliative Care Society, St. Martha’s Regional Hospital or
to St. Patrick’s Cemetery Fund.
The family wishes to thank and acknowledge the support and
love from family and friends, as well as, the care David received over
the past two years from the medical communities in both Guysborough
and Antigonish.
