OBITUARY

 

Dort, Mary "Joyce" Chisholm, 69 of Heatherton, Antigonish Co., passed away on January 13, 2016 at home.

Born in Antigonish she was a daughter of Beatrice and the late John Chisholm of Heatherton.

Joyce was married young to the late Ben Dort and raised her family in Heatherton. She loved to cook, bake and plant flowers. Bayfield Beach was one of her favorite places, but she also enjoyed trips out west to visit her children and grandchildren. Joyce was always willing to lend a helping hand to others in need, she loved going to Mass and also enjoyed going to bingo with her friends.

Besides her mom, she is survived by friend and companion, Earl Wallace; daughter, Michele (Howard) Phillips, Alberta; sons: Jim (Barb), Alberta; Charlie MacEachern (Allison), Halifax; Ken (Iris), Alberta and Ian Wallace, Alberta; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Reverend Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
