Brophy, John Duncan, Antigonish, The family of the late John Duncan Brophy are sad to announce his passing on Monday, May 23rd, 2016 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Albert and Florence (Dunn) Brophy. Until the time of his passing, John lived contently at Green Meadows Community Residence for Seniors.
Armed with a colorful personality, John embodied such charisma that touched not only his family but also individuals in his professional hockey career. John’s legacy will remain in the stories of his endeavors, the pride of his career and the people he met along the way. Outside of his passion for hockey, John deeply loved his canine companions Novie, Scotia, Mudduck, and most recently Lady.
John is survived by his son Steven, Maryland; his daughter Kendra, Georgia; her children Alexa, Gage, and Reese; and Steven and Kendra’s mother Kim Brophy-Rada. John is also survived by his sisters, Omenia Vacheresse, British Columbia; Jonetta Bradburn, Alberta; brothers, Tom, Florida; Huntly, Antigonish; sister-in-law, Alice Brophy, Antigonish; and his extended family.
John is predeceased by his parents; sisters, Terry Ball; Louise Fraser; and brother, Martin.
There will be no visitation.
