It is with great sadness the
DeCoste/Bowie family announces the passing of Patricia DeCoste of
Tracadie on May 29th 2016 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia at the age of 75.
Born March 17,1941, she was the second eldest of sixteen children of
the late Simon and Gertrude Bowie. Patricia passed away peacefully
surrounded by family and
friends. A special "Thank you" to the staff at The
R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home for their support and outstanding
care.
For 57 years, Patricia was a
loving wife to Hughie and caring mother of four successful children
and their spouses, Margaret (Gary), Francis (Melanie), Jim (Shelley)
and Bryan (Stephanie). As the family grew she became a loving
grandmother to six grandchildren; Cheryl, Tristen, Lauren, Katie,
Kayla and Joshua and one great grandchild Landon. She leaves behind
her cherished 15 siblings and their families: Melinda (Pat) McKenna
and Marion (Fred) Delorey of Tracadie; Geneva (Rollie) O'Neil, Jackie
(Berkley) Brown and Allister Bowie of Grosvenor; Angela (Collie)
DeCoste and Geraldine (Peter) Bowman, Frankville: Sheila (Andrew)
DeLorey, Havre Boucher; Isabelle (Maxi) Levangie, Boylston; Loretta
(Eddy) Landry, Dunmore; Louise (Harve) Monk, Musquodobit; Martina
(Ronnie) DeCoste, Country Harbour; Frankie (Linda) Bowie, Antigonish
and Billy (Donna) Bowie, New Brunswick; sister in law, Geraldine,
Mattie Settlement. She will be greatly missed by
Hughie’s sisters and brothers and their families,
as well.
Besides her parents she was
predeceased by her brother Ellsworth and sister in law,
Evelyn.
Patricia was a person
dedicated to family life, full of compassion, selflessness and
gratitude. She loved family gatherings, whether it was hosting large
dinners, camping or attending the massive reunions on the families
land in Nova Scotia. In addition to family, she had a passion for
playing 31, welcoming the challenge of any opponent.
The family will be celebrating
the life of Patricia DeCoste at the C.L Curry Funeral Home, 135
College Street, Antigonish, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter's Church Tracadie on
Friday at 11:00 am with Reverend John Barry presiding. Interment will
follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to St. Martha's Regional Hospital Foundation. For anyone who
