Tobin, Ethel Mae, 83, of Antigonish passed away peacefully on July 7, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Colin and Alice (Elliott) MacInnis.

For many years, Ethel enjoyed working for Gold Star Christmas Tree Company and Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition. Previous to that she was an operator with MT&T phone company.

She was the ultimate volunteer. She truly believed in giving back to her community. Among her volunteer endeavors were St. Martha's Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the Progressive Conservative party and her beloved Bulldog hockey teams. In 2005 she was honoured with an induction into the Canadian Hockey Hall of Fame as volunteer of the year. Her passion for sports continued on through the years as she watched her grandchildren excel in hockey, baseball and horse back riding. Ethel loved to travel and looked forward to her many trips with her "twisted " sisters creating stories that can't be shared.

She is survived by her devoted husband Carman; daughters, Charmaine (Terrance) Bowman, Ashdale; Darlene (Jeff) Sullivan, New Glasgow; Tracey (Basil) Pitts, Antigonish; daughter-in-law Jan Tobin, Antigonish; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Hurst, Antigonish; Mable Sutherland, Stellarton; Betty Camillo, South Carolina; Evey Fowler, Strathmore, Alberta; brother Billy, Trenton Ont.; Barry, Brooks, Alberta.; Larry and Philip, both of Antigonish.

She predeceased by her son Blaise, a child in infancy, sister June Gaipo, brothers, Jackie and Buddy.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Monday in C.L.Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 2:00pm in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish with burial in the parish cemetery.
