DeCoste, Harold Anthony, 83, of Monastery, Antigonish County, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso.

Born in East Tracadie, he was a son of the late Francis and Margaret (Bowie) DeCoste.

Harold was a self-employed business man who sold meat door-to-door for 38 years.  His customers from Afton to Mulgrave to Manchester to St. Francis Harbour and all points in between looked forward to his weekly visits.  He also operated a furniture and appliance business from his home address for 28 years, which developed as a result of requests from his meat customers.  Harold was hard-working and well-respected in his community.  He loved gardening and was a handy man who could fix anything.  He was a proud father and grandfather and loved when the grandchildren came to visit.  Harold will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice (Grant); children, Donna (Gus) Connell, Troy; Kevin (Bonnie), Brierly Brook; Reggie (Lisa), East Tracadie; Sharon, East Tracadie; Brenda (Dominic), Monastery; Lisa (Eric) Proudfoot, East Tracadie; and Shane (Trish), Monastery; daughter-in-law, Helena, East Tracadie; step-children, Sheila (Paul) Uffindell; Dolena MacChesney, James (Kim) MacChesney; grandchildren, Glen, Bradley, Ryan, Chelsey, Beth, Alex, Michael, Shanelle, Chad, Haley, Trent, and Logan; step-grandchildren, Korey, Hollie, Jenna, Kyle, and Ethan; 3 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Frankie, Monastery; Ray, Antigonish; and Carl, Monastery; and aunts, Bessie of Havre Boucher and Vietha of Bayfield.

Predeceased by his first wife, Louise (MacNeil); son, Harold Francis; granddaughter, Kimberley; sister, Mary; and brothers, Andrew, Joe, Jeffrey, Clayton, Leonard, Bobby, and Danny.

Visitation will be held Monday from 7 to 9pm and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in St. Peter's Place, Tracadie.  Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday in St. Peter's Church at 11:00am, with Fr. John Barry presiding.  Burial in the parish cemetery.

Family flowers only please.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the charity of choice appreciated.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish.  Online condolences:  www.clcurry.com
