Boyle, John Duncan, age 85, of
West River, Antigonish County passed away on October 5, 2016 at the
R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish.
Born in Beauly, he was a son of the late William and Margaret
(Punch) Boyle.
John lived most of his adult life in Heatherton where he and
Mary raised seven children. He started his working career as a lineman
with CN Telegraph. Following that, he was employed as a milkman with
Eastern Dairyfoods for forty years. He was a deeply religious man; a
great sports fan, especially dedicated to the Toronto Maple
Leafs.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years Mary (Smith);
children: John (Annabeth), Belleville, ON; Mike, Bayfield; Evelyn
(Charlie) Pettipas, West Arm Tracadie; Donald (Geraldine), Beauly;
Allan (Donna), Fairmont; Margaret, Antigonish; Theresa (Blaise)
Boudreau, West River; nineteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren;
sisters: Kay Boyd, Hamilton, ON; Mae MacNeil, Kamloops, BC; Tilly
MacDonald, Antigonish; Nan (Neil) MacMillan, New Glasgow and brother,
Francis, Antigonish.
He was predeceased by brother Angus Joseph in infancy;
brothers, Joe and Danny; brothers in law, Tony MacDonald and Jerome
Boyd; sisters-in-law, Helen and Margie; daughter-in-law
Anne.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College
Street, Antigonish on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass
will be on Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Ninian Cathedral with Reverend
Joe MacKenzie presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
