Please note:
The funeral for Debbie Swinkels will be proceeding as
scheduled.
Swinkels, Deborah Lynn "Debbie", 62, of Bayfield,
Antigonish County, passed away on October 7, 2016, at home.
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late
Terrance and Dorothy (MacInnis) Thompson.
Debbie had a deep love of family and was a consummate hostess
– no one ever left her house hungry. She did the
crossword every morning without fail, and her dry sense of humour and
mischievous grin will be missed. But above all else, her
outstanding characteristic was her strength. Regardless of
the trials and challenges sent her way, Debbie persevered without
complaint.
She is survived by her husband and
partner for 38 years, John; children, Meghan, Toronto; Kristen,
Halifax; and Jordan, Antigonish; granddaughter, Hollynd Mae Deborah
Swinkels; siblings, Terry (late Mary), Cloverville; Sandra (Tom)
Jardine, Waterville; Paul, Antigonish; Wayne, Antigonish; Liz (Phil)
Warren, Murphy Lake; Len (Bernadette), Halifax; Greg (Isabel),
Heatherton; sister-in-law, Barb Thompson, Cloverville.
Predeceased by her son, Jonathan, and brother,
Gary.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 10:30am in
Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, Reverend Charles Cameron
presiding.
In Memoriam, donations
to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Canadian Cancer
Society appreciated.
