MacMillan, Elmer Bernard "Bernie", 63, of Lower South River, Antigonish County, passed away on October 19, 2016, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born November 7, 1952, he was a son of the late Elmer and Theresa (Bowie) MacMillan.

Bernie worked as a labourer for H.B. Construction Company, Alberta, until he took sick.

He is survived by sisters, Diane (late Angus) Chisholm, St. Andrews; Peggy (John Angus) MacDonald, Lower South River; Lorraine (John) Rogers, Frasers Grant; brothers, Jimmy, Allie (Judy), and Donnie, all of Ontario; Geordie, Heatherton; Frankie, Lower South River; Wayne (Jackie), Heatherton; and Gary, Pinevale; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by brother, Johnie; nieces Chelsea and Savannah Rogers, and great-nephew, Mitchell MacMillan.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:30am in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet, Fr. Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
