Grace, David Joseph, 82, of
Upper Springfield, Antigonish County, passed away on November 10,
2016, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born at home in Upper Springfield, he was the first-born of
eight children to the late Joseph and Edna (Gillis)
Grace.
David was a member of St. Andrews Holy Name Society for its
years of duration, a member of St. Andrews Oak & Owl Seniors
Club, and a faithful member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. David was
employed with the Department of Transportation, Communication, and
Highways for some thirty plus years. David also operated a small beef
farm and worked with his wood lot cutting Christmas trees, pulp, and
firewood. He was a foster father to a great number of children. Always
a close-to-home person, David enjoyed a game of cribbage or
forty-fives with family and friends, fiddle music, and good
food.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Morris); daughter, Wanda,
Antigonish; sons, Shawn, Upper Springfield, and Wayne, Caledonia
Mills; daughters-in-law Treena Grace and Clementine Grace;
grandchildren, Gloria, Andrew, Nicole, and Mitchell; siblings, Eileen
(late David) Battite, Burlington, MA; Vincent (Margaret), Antigonish;
Phillip (Norma), South Carolina; Shirley (Gerry) André,
Kingston, ON; and Linda (late Austin) Richardson, St. Andrews;
sisters-in-law, Nancy Grace, Newport, ON; and Ruby Grace, Kingston,
ON; and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brothers, Earl and James; and sister-in-law,
Agnes Grace.
Visitation will be held Monday from 7 to 9pm and Tuesday from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10:30am in St.
Andrew's Church, St. Andrews, Reverend Gary MacPherson, Reverend
Charles Cameron, and Reverend Dan MacDonald presiding. Burial in the
parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis
Society, St. Martha's Regional Hospital Foundation, or a charity of
choice appreciated.
