MacEachern, Mary Jane, age 82, of Cape George, Antigonish County passed away suddenly at home on November 11, 2016.

Born in Belle Cote, she was a daughter of the late Napoleon and Marie Louise (Chiasson) Aucoin.

Mary Jane graduated from Truro Normal College. She taught at Belle Cote, Sheet Harbour and numerous years at MacPherson Elementary in Antigonish. She was a devoted teacher who fondly remembered and kept in touch with many of her students. She loved Celtic music, especially the fiddle and was very proud of her Acadian culture. Her family was very important to her and she always remembered all their special occasions. Mary Jane was the matriarch of the family and a friend to many. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, John V, MacEachern, Cape George; sisters: Yvonne (Henry) Aucoin, Maynard, Mass.; Lucy (the late Gerry) Romard, Belle Cote; Annie (Russell) Chiasson, Belle Cote; Claudette (Gordon) Ramard, Cheticamp; brothers: Peter, Edmonton, Alta; Tassian, Belle Cote; John (Danena) Cap LeMoine; Daniel (Maureen) Mississauga, Ont., sister in law, Aileen MacNeil, Antigonish and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Catherine, brother George, niece, Eileen, and aunt Sr. Laurette Chiasson.

Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home. 135 College Street, Antigonish on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ninian Cathedral on Thursday at 11:00 am with Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. The remains will be transferred to East Margaree on Friday where they will rest in St.Michael`s Parish Hall from 12:30 to 3:00 pm with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
