Finnigan, Charles Aloysius "Charlie"
"Al", 77, of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home and formerly of
Pomquet River, Antigonish County, passed away on November 19, 2016, in
the nursing home.
Born in Cape Jack, he was a son of the late Charlotte
Finnigan and was raised by his grandmother, Sophie (Breen)
Finnigan.
Al was a loving, caring, providing husband and a devoted dad
and grandpa. He was a truck driver for over 50 years and was
well-respected by his peers. He loved hunting, fishing, homemade
cooking, and George Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Mattie); daughters,
Sophia and Meriah, Pomquet River; son, Jim (Cheryl), Fall River;
grandchildren, Ashley and Jessie, Cordella and Jessie; siblings, Patsy
Slaunwhite, Linda Misner, Gordon, and Larry; mother-in-law, Mary
Mattie, Heatherton; special niece, Stephanie Mattie (a.k.a,
"Snotface"), Alberta, and many more nieces and nephews;
sisters-in-law, Jackie Benoit and Donna Mattie (Gary DeCoste);
brothers-in-law, J.J. Mattie and Jamie Benoit; and cousin, Ann
Landry.
Predeceased by son, Samuel, and daughter,
Anna.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in
C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass
will be held Tuesday at 11:00am in St. Peter's Church, Tracadie, with
Fr. John Barry presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations directed towards the family are
appreciated.

Hickey, Dr. Steeves, and the staff of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home
for the exceptional care they provided to Al.
