MacDonald, Christena Elsie, age 93, formerly of Loch Katrine passed away on December 19, 2016 in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish,

Born in Loch Katrine, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Janetta (Stewart) MacIntosh. 

Following high school graduation in Loch Katrine, Christena moved to Cape Breton and worked at the Eaton’s store in New Waterford. She married her husband Gordon and moved to New Victoria, where they raised 3 children. Christena was a very intelligent and artistic woman who excelled at any task. Above all, Christena was a loving and caring individual who cherished her family and her many friends. As a member of the King’s United UCW she was able to share her kindness with others.

She is survived by her children: Stuart, St. Catharine’s, Ont., Marilyn Matheson, Markham, Ont., and Kevin (Dolores), Loch Katrine; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; brothers: Stewart and Leslie MacIntosh; sister, Jean MacDonald daughter in law, Mary MacDonald; son in law, Russell Matheson.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be in King’s United Church, Loch Katrine on Tuesday December 27, from 10:00am followed by funeral service in King’s United Church at 11:30am with Reverend Meredith Marple presiding. Burial at a later date.
