Desmond, Aaliyah Makayla, age 10 of Guysborough Road, Monastery went to sleep on January 3rd, 2017 at home. 

Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late Shanna and Lionel Desmond . 

Aaliyah had attended Assiniboine Avenue Elementary School in Oromocto, New Brunswick and Chedabucto Education Centre in Guysborough. 

She loved horseback riding, skating, singing and spending time with her many cousins.  She loved her dog "Penny G" and cat "Bentley".  Aaliyah dreamed of becoming a veterinarian when she grew up as she always wanted to help all of the animals.  Aaliyah had the most beautiful smile and would light up any room as soon as she entered it. 

She will be remembered and deeply missed by her grandparents; Thelma and Richard Borden, Guysborough Road and Kenneth Jones, Havre Boucher as well as her uncle, Sheldon Borden and aunts: Shonda Boparai, Cassandra Desmond, Chantel Desmond, Kaitlin Desmond, Diane Desmond.

Visitation will be Monsignor Donnelly Hall, Tracadie on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm from where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Stephen Shepherd presiding. Burial in Sunnyview Cemetery at a later. date. Memorial donations may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Wittnesses.
