Cotie, Grace Virginia, age 94 of
East Tracadie passed away peacefully on January 15, 2017 in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish with her family by
her side.
Born in Tracadie on September 9, 1922, she was a daughter of
the late John and Laura (Perro) Myette.
Grace worked and lived in Tracadie until her marriage to
Ernest, then moved to East Tracadie for the rest of her days. She was
a loving lady. Visits from family and friends put a bright smile on
her face and a laugh in her heart. She was always ready to serve a
sandwich and a cup of tea. Music was a big part of her life. She
enjoyed listening to her famiy and friends play music, going to bingos
and playing cards. She loved to bake and work in her flower gardens.
She had a deep faith and was a devout Roman Catholic. Even after
losing her sight she was happy to stay at home and enjoy everyone
around her.
Grace was the last surviving member of her immediate (Myette)
family. She is survived by her children: Anne Boudreau, East Tracadie;
Ursula Purdy, Wallace; Anthony (Brenda) Cotie, Heatherton; Peggy
Cotie, and Angus (Dorothy) Cotie, East Tracadie; Laura Doyle,
Erinville; Sheila (Gary) Boudreau, Hampton, NB; John (Cindy) Cotie,
East Tracadie; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-six great
grandchildren; daughter in laws: Patricia and Evangeline;
sisters in law: Theresa Myette, Dorothy Tate and Edna
Côté.
She was predeceased by her husband Ernest Cotie; daughter,
Christina; sons: Gerard and Hugh; daughter in law, Jane (Perro) Cotie;
sons in law: Clarence Boudreau, Sr.; Lloyd Doyle, Donald Purdy and Ray
Ehler; siblings, Sampson, Josephine (Joe) Benoit; Annie (Clifford)
Mattie; Dora (Jim) Miller; Charlie; Barbara (Pius) Mattie; Joe and
Sylvester.
Visitation will be in St. Peter’s Place, Tracadie
on Wednesday, January 18th, from 1 to 4 and 6
to 9 pm.
Funeral will be held in St Peter’s Church, Tracadie
on Thursday at 11:00 am with Reverend John Barry presiding. Burial in
the parish cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to VON Antigonish; St.
Peter’s Cemetery Fund, Antigonish and Area Homemakers or
charity of choice.
