Simon, Margaret Rose, age 70, of Paqtnkek First Nation, formerly of New Haven, CT passed away on March 8, 2017 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. 

Born on Paqtnkek First Nation, she was a daughter of the late Irene Marble and Stephen Simon.

Margaret Rose had a heart of gold, but as everyone knew, she was straight to the point. She was quick to help others in need. You could often find her at the bingo hall or if not, the machines. Margaret Rose was a Shubenacadie Indian Residential School Survivor.

She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette (James) Peters and step son, Ellery Levesque; sister, Mary Elizabeth Simon, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by her life partner, Joseph Peters; son, Darryl Sylliboy; daughters, Belinda Bernard and Yvonne Cantres; sister, Sandra; brothers: Jimmy, Kenny, Stephen and John Andrew Marshall.

Visitation will be in the Paqtnkek Band Office, 7 Dillon Street, after 5 pm on Saturday. Funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 13th, in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Summerside Road. Salite to follow in the Paqtnkek Community Centre. All welcome.
