Jenkins, Bernard Cecil, 84, of South Side Harbour, Antigonish
County, passed away on March 17, 2017, in St. Martha's Regional
Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in
Boylston, he was a son of the late Clarence Bernard and Estella Mae
(Myers) Jenkins.
"If a job is worth
doing, it's worth doing well." Bernard spent over three
decades working at Churchill Falls and then with Blackwood Hodge at
the mines in Labrador City. Prior to that, he worked in the
Maritimes with North-Eastern Terex. Bernard's heart was
never far from Guysborough, where he returned at every opportunity.
His loyalty to his family and friends will be remembered
always.
He is survived by his wife of over 60
years, Lorna (Yeaton); children, Jocelyn (Jim Hurd), Ottawa; Burton
(Susan), South Side Harbour; and Deborah, South Side Harbour;
grandchildren, Nathaniel, Garrett, and Gabrielle Jenkins and Gavin and
Gillian Hurd; sisters, Dorothy (Willie) Goodman, Trenton, ON; and Eva,
Halifax; and brother, Keith (Helen), Sydney.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held
Monday in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, at
10:30am, with Reverend Peter Smith presiding.
