Pettipas (Pitts), Vincent Arthur, 82, of Antigonish and
formerly of Afton, passed away on March 20, 2017, in St. Martha's
Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in
Tracadie, he was a son of the late Walter and Sophie Jane (Perro)
Pitts.
Vince was a landscaper, first working
with the City of Halifax in the Public Gardens, then working with an
Antigonish landscaping company which he purchased, forming Pitt's
Landscaping, before retiring in 1993. An avid outdoorsman,
he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his
camp. Vince was very proud of his children, grandchildren,
and great grandchildren, and he loved them all dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine
Jean (MacDonald); daughter, Cathy (Greg) MacDonald, Lower South River,
and children, Rebecca (Tommy), Jennifer (Brandon), and Matthew; son,
Jerome (Maureen) Pettipas, Afton, and children Tyler (Chelsea) and
Cory (Chantel); daughter, Janie (John) Landry, Afton, and children
Natasha (Adam), Melanie (Darryl), and Megan (Lindsay); daughter,
Darlene (late Mark) MacDonald, Pomquet, and children Jason (Melissa),
Lindsay (Ryan), and Chelsea (Ryan); son, Michael (Charlene),
Antigonish, and children, Kristie (Marcellinus), Kaitlin (Graham), and
Cassidy (Stephen); 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Joe (Margaret)
Pettipas, New Glasgow; Michael (Vera) Pettipas, Thorburn; William
(Elsie) Pettipas, Tracadie; brothers-in-law, Gordie MacDougall,
Thorburn, and William M. Pettipas, Guysborough; and sisters-in-law,
Eunice Chisholm (Bill), Toronto, and Cathy (Ansel) Slaunwhite, Terence
Bay.
Predeceased by brother, James, and sisters
Frances MacDougall, Augusta MacLean, and Margaret Pettipas.
Visitation will be held in C.L. Curry Funeral Home,
135 College Street, Antigonish, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm
and on Friday from 11:30 until time of departure for
funeral. Funeral Mass will be held Friday in St. Peter's
Church, Tracadie, at 2:00pm, with Fr. John Barry presiding.
Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
