Bunting, Trudi Elizabeth, 72, of Antigonish and formerly of Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario, passed away in St. Martha’s Regional Hosptial, Antigonish, on April 3, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Born in Toronto, she was a daughter of Gladys (Hoskins) and the late Harold Bunting.

Trudi received her B.A. from York University, her masters from Western Ontario University, and her PhD in geography from the University of Toronto. A devoted undergraduate educator, her academic career spanned several decades at the University of Waterloo and her publications include journal articles and several books. As a pioneering female faculty member, she was a valued advisor, mentor, and role model to her graduate students. She and her family continually enjoyed their seasonal home on the sea shore in Guysborough County since 1979. Upon moving to Antigonish in 2009, she was active as a volunteer and a strong supporter of the local arts community.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Abler; daughter, Elizabeth Abler, Antigonish; mother, Gladys, Toronto; brother, Terry, Ontario; and two nephews.

Predeceased by her father, Harold.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday from 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. No funeral service is scheduled.

In Memoriam, donations to L’Arche Antigonish appreciated.
