Bunting, Trudi
Elizabeth, 72, of Antigonish and formerly of
Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario, passed away in St. Martha’s
Regional Hosptial, Antigonish, on April 3, 2017, surrounded by her
family.
Born in Toronto, she was a daughter
of Gladys (Hoskins) and the late Harold Bunting.
Trudi received her B.A. from York
University, her masters from Western Ontario University, and her PhD
in geography from the University of Toronto. A devoted undergraduate
educator, her academic career spanned several decades at the
University of Waterloo and her publications include journal articles
and several books. As a pioneering female faculty member, she was a
valued advisor, mentor, and role model to her graduate students. She
and her family continually enjoyed their seasonal home on the sea
shore in Guysborough County since 1979. Upon moving to Antigonish in
2009, she was active as a volunteer and a strong supporter of the
local arts community.
She is survived by her husband,
Thomas Abler; daughter, Elizabeth Abler, Antigonish; mother, Gladys,
Toronto; brother, Terry, Ontario; and two nephews.
Predeceased by her father,
Harold.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral
Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. No funeral service is
scheduled.
