Doiron, James Francis
"Jimmie", 74 of Pomquet, Antigonish Co.
passed away suddenly but peacefully on April 26, 2017 in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Joseph Harold
and Amelia Ann (Boudreau) Durant/Doiron.
Jimmie was a kind and generous man who lived life to the
fullest. He was a carpenter by trade and following his retirement he
enjoyed woodworking, farming, and gardening, giving away most of what
he grew. Jimmie loved the Montreal Canadiens, telling a good story,
and a cold one. Most of all, he loved being at home with his
family.
He is survived by his wife Marcelline (DeYoung); children:
Joyce (Stephen) Smith, Pomquet; James (Michelle McPhee), Nunavut;
Jeanne, Pomquet; Joseph (Karen), St. George, NB; grandchildren:
Hannah, Evan, and Madeline; special nephew, Colin MacDonald; siblings:
Theresa (late Raymond) Rennie, Pomquet; William (MaryAnn) Durant,
Pomquet; Rita (Moses) Benoit, Pomquet.
Predeceased by brothers: Leo, Thomas, John, Charlie, Linus,
Peter, and Joseph; sisters: Stella and two in infancy.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in C.L.
Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St. Funeral Mass will be held on
Saturday at 2:00pm in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet, Reverend Gary
MacPherson presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a
later date.
