Doiron, James Francis "Jimmie", 74 of Pomquet, Antigonish Co. passed away suddenly but peacefully on April 26, 2017 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Joseph Harold and Amelia Ann (Boudreau) Durant/Doiron.

Jimmie was a kind and generous man who lived life to the fullest. He was a carpenter by trade and following his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, farming, and gardening, giving away most of what he grew. Jimmie loved the Montreal Canadiens, telling a good story, and a cold one. Most of all, he loved being at home with his family.

He is survived by his wife Marcelline (DeYoung); children: Joyce (Stephen) Smith, Pomquet; James (Michelle McPhee), Nunavut; Jeanne, Pomquet; Joseph (Karen), St. George, NB; grandchildren: Hannah, Evan, and Madeline; special nephew, Colin MacDonald; siblings: Theresa (late Raymond) Rennie, Pomquet; William (MaryAnn) Durant, Pomquet; Rita (Moses) Benoit, Pomquet.

Predeceased by brothers: Leo, Thomas, John, Charlie, Linus, Peter, and Joseph; sisters: Stella and two in infancy.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 2:00pm in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet, Reverend Gary MacPherson presiding.  Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Family flowers only please.
