Moreton, Frances, 95, of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, died peacefully at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish on May 02, 2017.

Born in Springhill Nova Scotia, January 18, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Ted and Alice (Redford) Foster.

Fran had a wonderful 95 years. She spent her childhood in Bedford until 1930 when her father found work in the engineering department of the Mersey Paper Co. in Brooklyn. During WWII, she worked as a secretary at Steel & Engine in Liverpool for the Navy. While married, she lived in Vancouver and then settled in Toronto until retirement in the early 1970s, at which time they returned to the South Shore of Nova Scotia in Summerville Centre.

Fran enjoyed life. Always ready for a road trip, she explored the beauty of the South Shore and never tired of driving in any direction to find an ice cream cone. A lady of wit, humour, and one-liners, she communicated well with all ages and loved spending time with her four grandsons.

An avid reader, she was never without several books and the daily puzzles. While in hospital, she was never without her high heeled shoes or sandals. She is greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by children, David Edward (Brenda), Richmond, BC, with his son Bryan (Jocelyne) and grandson, Liam; Barbara Frances (Terry) , Bayfield, NS; Alan Timothy Wendell, Richmond, BC, with his son Stephen of Fort McMurray, AB; daughter Virginia Leigh (Chip) Aikenhead, Toronto, ON, with children Charlie and Alex; brother, Edward Foster, Brooklyn, NS.

Fran (Grammy) was predeceased by her loving husband, Alan, and her older adopted brother, Wendell Tidmarsh.

At her request, no visitation or flowers. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

A special thank you to Bernadette MacDonald who cared for Mum. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital for their compassion, care, and support.
