Nderitu, Paul
Thuku, age
58, of Antigonish passed away on May 9, 2017,
at home.
Born in Nyahururu, Kenya, he was the
firstborn son of Nelson Nderitu Thuku and Serah Nderitu. Paul worked
as a police officer in Nairobi, Kenya for almost 20 years before he
moved to Antigonish in 2002. Paul gave up his own career in Kenya and
joined his wife in Canada with their children to support Joyce with
her education and to give their children a better life in Canada. He
was his wife's best friend and her greatest cheerleader. He wanted to
celebrate his wife's graduation ceremony on May 7th that would have
crowned his efforts and support for her but was unable to attend the
ceremony due to recent
hospitalization.
Paul worked as a security and safety
officer at St. Francis Xavier University until his sudden passing on
Tuesday May 9, 2017 at home. He also worked with the
Sheriff’s Department. Prior to his illness, he was a member
of the Knights of Columbus. He performed his duties with kindness and
compassion. Mild mannered and a hard worker, Paul was much loved by
his co-workers, students, and friends. He was a devoted son, husband,
and father. He knew that the true joy in life was about the daily
interactions and relationships we share with those around us.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years,

of Halifax; and Milkah Thuku, Antigonish; parents; brothers Njuguna
