McInnis, Murvin Edward, 87, of Antigonish and originally of
Prince Edward Island, passed away on May 19, 2017, in St.
Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke.
Born in Elliotvale, PEI, he was a son of the late John W. And
Florence (Baldwin) McInnis.
Murvin was a graduate of St. Dunstan’s University
(now known as UPEI) and later received his Masters of Education from
St. Francis Xavier University. He was a teacher and administrator in
Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Northwest Territories, and then moved to
Nova Scotia where he became an inspector of schools. After his
retirement, he enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. Murvin was an
avid reader when his sight allowed for it, which served him well as he
constantly strived to further his education. But most important to
Murvin was his grandchildren.
Cherished father of Patrick (Darlene), Antigonish, and
Christopher (Natalie), Truro; Beloved grandfather of Jillian, Brody,
Brianna, and Shelby; Loving brother of Mary MacDonald, Peakes, PEI and
Florence Dooks, London, Ontario, and he will also be missed by several
nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife, Margaret Mary (Ross) and siblings,
Everett, Al, Joan, Eleanor, Carl, and Jeannette.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday
at 11:00 in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, Reverend Donald
MacGillivray presiding. Burial in St. Cuthbert's Parish Cemetery, St.
Teresa, Prince Edward Island, at a later date.
