MacLeod, Katherine Mary, 88, of Antigonish and formerly of
Cleveland, Cape Breton, passed away on October 24, 2017 in St.
Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in
River Denys, she was a daughter of the late Alex R. and Jessie
(MacGregor) MacLean.
Katherine worked for many
years with Tuttle's Flower Shop in Port Hawkesbury, and her passion
for arranging flowers stayed with her through her whole
life. She also spent a number of years working at Schwartz
Furniture.
Her husband, William, was
her life's blood, and their loving relationship extended to her
bookkeeping in his lumber business. On top of raising their
three boys, they also took in many boarders over the years.
Katherine was very involved in her church and had
been a representative to the presbytery and the General Council of the
United Church of Canada. She was also a member of Eastern
Star Chapter, Port Hawkesbury. She enjoyed her
grandchildren, going for drives, her trips to Florida, and attending
TOPS meetings.
She is survived by her sons,
Rev. William (Joyce), Stanhope, PEI; Sandy (Marilyn) and Brian
(Irene), both of Antigonish; grandchildren, James, Jeremy, and
Jillian; Michael, Carole, and Andrew; and William, Brian Douglas,
Sheumais, and Jermal; great grandchildren, Sheumais, Abbi, Aiden, Ava,
Emily and Emily "EJ"; sister, Sadie MacLeod, Truro; brother,
Charles, Victoria, BC; nephew, Malcolm and niece Janet
Predeceased by her husband, William; brother, John
Dan "Jack"; and sister, Margaret.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm
in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 10:30am in St. James United
Church, Reverend Peter Smith presiding. Burial in West Bay
Cemetery, West Bay.
