Cowley (MacKenzie,
MacKay), Pauline Edith, 96, of Antigonish, passed away
on January 23, 2018 in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home,
Antigonish.
Born November 14, 1921 in New
Waterford, she was the youngest daughter of the late David J. and Jane
(Price) MacKay.
Pauline grew up in New Waterford
and in 1941 married John O. "Jack" MacKenzie. They moved to
Sydney in 1952. Pauline loved to socialize, especially playing cards,
and was active in I.O.D.E., Old Sydney Society and in later years was
a member of the Sydney River Seniors Club. A number of years after her
first husbands death she re-married to Capt. John
Cowley.
She is survived by three daughters,
Marilyn (George) Tellum, Antigonish; Sharon (Carmon) Stone, Halifax;
and Heather (George)Kennedy, Greenwood, seven grandsons, Craig and
David Tellum, Greg, Stephen, and Andrew Stone, Matthew and Christopher
Kennedy; thirteen great grandchildren; three step children, Bob (Bev)
Cowley, Fred (Karen) Cowley, and Ann (Harry) Elliot; sister-in-law
Irene MacKay; and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by first husband Jack
MacKenzie in 1970, second husband Capt. John Cowley in 1991; two step
children John and Sheila; brothers, Dave, George, Richard, Teddy;
sisters, Maggie, Lillie, Janet, Muriel.
Cremation has taken place.
Celebration of Life and interment will take place at a later
date.
Family would like to thank all the
staff at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, especially the nurses, for
their excellent care during the last six years of Pauline’s
life, as well as Dr. Steeves and Dr. Hickey.
