MacDonald, Phyllis A., age 61, of Lochaber, Antigonish Co. passed away peacefully at her home on January 26, 2018 after a very brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Guysborough, she was the daughter of the late John and Hazel (Richardson) Kennedy.

Phyllis was employed with Scotia Bank in Antigonish for forty-two years. She was a very kind and loving person who always put her family and friends before herself. Phyllis enjoyed baking and cooking but never gave up an opportunity when one arose to take a day trip shopping. She loved seeing the beautiful results from her flower gardens in the spring, summer and fall. Another passtime she enjoyed was trying her luck at games of chance.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty one years, Melvin and her caring son, Wade (Leah) of Lochaber; brothers: Joe Kennedy, St. Andrews; John (Pauline) Kennedy, Greg (Gertie) Kennedy, both of Fraser's Mills and William Kennedy, Ogden; sisters: Rose (Malcolm) Reid, Kingston, ON; Bertha Chisholm, North Ogden; Nina (Raymond) Halloran, Guysborough; Sheila MacDonald, Calgary AB; Florence (Buddy) Murphy, Lochaber and Ann Marie MacHattie, Copper Lake; father in law, George F. MacDonald, Rocky Mountain and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Bernie; sisters, Mary MacDonald and Judy Budgell; sister in law, Annabelle Kennedy; brothers in law: Allan B. MacDonald, Rod MacDonald, Fred Chisholm, Brian MacHattie; nephews, Dale Kennedy and Duncan MacDonald; mother in law, Elsie MacDonald and two siblings in infancy.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. There will be a private family funeral service and burial.

Donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to Cathy’s Place at St. Martha’s Hospital or the Lochaber Community Development Association. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com.
