Hanifen, Patricia Ann "Pat", 94, of Maple Drive, Antigonish, and formerly of Cloverville, passed away on February 16, 2018, in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish.

Born in Erinville, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Kenny) McDonald.  When she was only 10 months old, following the death of ther mother, she was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Wil and Minnie (McKinnon) McDonald and cousin, Raymond.

Pat always had a kind and gentle nature in everything she did in life.  For over 60 years, she was a member of the CWL.  She created many beautiful pieces of art with her needlework, many of which hang proudly in her home.  Her freezer was always full of delicious baked goodies to go with the bottomless pot of tea.  Pat loved a good game of cards with so many great friends who have gone before her and the "Saturday night games" with Paul and Gerald.

In 1945, she married the love her life, Jim, and they spent 72 years together.  She is also survived by her daughter, Colleen Hanifen, Antigonish; Martha Durant, Pomquet; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her only sister, Marie Hanifen; special brother, Raymond; sisters-in-law, Jeannette MacDonald, Marguerite Fell, and Florence Barry-Morell; brothers-in-law, Anselm Hanifen, Bill MacDonald, Tom Fell, Lawrence Barry, and Everett Morell; and nephews, Robert and Terry Hanifen.

Special thanks to the wonderful Newfoundland Ladies, especially Catherine, Ida, Marie, and Marilyn; Dr. Brian Steeves; and the staff at Tanglewood in the R.K.

Visitation will be held Sunday in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.  Funeral Mass will be held Monday in St. Ninian Cathedral at 2:00pm, Reverend Andrew Boyd presiding.  Burial in the parish cemetery in the spring.
