Paul, Rose, 84, of Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation, Antigonish County, passed away on May 27, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation, she was a daughter of the late James Simon and Mary Jane Eldridge.

Rose was a woman of strong faith and said her prayers morning and night. A modest woman, she was respectful and believed in tradition. Rose had a witty sense of humour, was someone you could always count on, and loved all her children. In her earlier years, she raked blueberries and lived in Boston, Michigan, and Maine. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and giving gifts.

She is survived by her children, Rosemary "Ducy" Paul (Bob), Holton, Maine; Peter Paul, Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation; Freda Paul (late Lloyd), Dartmouth; Pat Johnson (John), Eskasoni; Delores Paul (Charlie), Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation; Mary Margaret Paul, Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation; Anne Marie Paul (Kerry), Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation, Darlene Paul (Earl), Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation; and Sharlene Naylor (Kevin), Michigan; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Ellen Simon, Tobique, NB.

Predeceased by daughters, Victoria and Diane; son, Wayne; sisters, Freda and Margaret; and brothers, Frank and Steve.

Visitation will be in the family residence, 37 Mugasun Road,Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation after 4 pm on Tuesday. May 29th.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Thursday at 11:00 am with Reverend Andrew Gillies presiding. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Summerside Road. A Salite will be held in the Paqtnkek Community Centre following the burial.
