Bowie, Kenneth James, age 60, of South Side Harbour, Antigonish County, formerly of New France passed away at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on June 22, 2018.

Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Margaret (MacPherson) Bowie.

Kenneth graduated from CRVS in 1977 as a welder. He worked with the Ironworkers and Pipefitters for many years. For the last ten years of his career he worked as successful construction manager in Alberta with Moreau Industries. One of his favourite sayings on the job was, "Work a little harder; a littler faster". He helped out and encouraged many young people by hiring them for jobs in Alberta. Kenny was never idle. He enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting and working around the yard. He travelled the country and had a great love for Harley Davidson’s. He especially enjoyed lobster parties, family gatherings and his grandchildren. Kenny was always available to lend a listening ear and give sound advice. He was a role model to many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by daughters, Krystal, Edmonton; Kendra, Antigonish; son, Stephen, Alberta; sisters: Dorothy (Basil) Ludlow, Antigonish; Linda (John) Gabriel, Fitchburg Mass.; Carol Ann, Charlottetown; brothers: Harold, Antigonish; John (Debbie), Antigonish; Wilfred (Sonya) Afton; George, Calgary, Alta; Edward, Dumore and Richard, Bayfield.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Donna Lowney.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street. Antigonish on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Wednesday at 11:30 am with Reverend Charlie Cameron presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.

Donations in memory may be made to the Antigonish Food Bank or St. Mary’s Cemetery. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com.
