Chisholm-Barker Marguerite, age 72 of Antigonish.

It is with great sadness that the family of Marguerite Chisholm-Barker announce her death which occurred at St. Martha's Regional Hospital on December 24th, 2018 following her 19-year battle with multiple myeloma. Marguerite faced her illness and all challenges with an unwavering strength and a positive attitude.  Her courage and tenacity were an inspiration to many.

Born in Antigonish and raised in Erinville, Guysborough County she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Kelly) Doyle.

Marguerite was a graduate of Teacher's College, Truro.  She taught in Eastern Passage and Calgary, but most of her teaching years were spent at Morrison School and Braemore Elementary.  She was a dedicated teacher who loved her students, especially her grade two classes. She also served as Vice Principal of Braemore and Maryvale Schools.  Marguerite loved going on trips, dancing, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was also an avid volunteer. Since retirement, Marguerite volunteered at a number of organizations including the Look Good Feel Good Program, Red Cross, St. Martha’s Café and Meals on Wheels.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Gordon Barker; daughter: Tanya (Kevin Reardon) Chisholm, Pomquet; sons: Stephen (Kara) Chisholm, Truro; Shaun (Kathy) Chisholm, William's Point; Kyle (Sylvia) Chisholm, Slave Lake, AB; grandchildren: Hannah, Linden, Astrid, Olivia and George. Gordon's children: Gordie (Cheryl), Whitehorse; Kyle (Shannon), Antigonish; Sean (Christine), St.Andrews; Stephen (Lisa), Stellarton; sister, Carmel (Anthony) Benoit, Pomquet; brothers: Henry (Cecile) Doyle, North Grant; Bernie (Darlene), Halifax; sisters in law, Doreen Boudreau, Erinville; Margie Doyle, Halifax; many nieces and nephews and her extended Chisholm family.
