Robertson, Melanie Christina – South Side Harbour, Antigonish County

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Melanie Christina Robertson, 42, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish on May 12, 2019.

Born on August 8, 1976, Melanie was the adored chosen daughter of Grace (John) Doyle and Stuart Robertson.

She was a 2016 Honours Graduate of the Culinary Arts Program at NSCC Strait Campus and was employed with Sodexo Canada Ltd, St. Francis Xavier University, for the last three years.  Melanie was well-respected and loved by her coworkers as well as management.  She was a valued member on the culinary team and will be greatly missed.  She was known for her sense of humour, infectious laugh, and smile.

Melanie loved her three beautiful children, camping, bonfires, fishing, animals, gardening, and of course Billy Joe, but she hated June bugs.

Melanie will be sadly missed by her father, Stuart; her mother and step-father, Grace and John Doyle; and also by the love of her life, Billy Joe Tait, Bayfield; daughter, Madison; sons, Justin and Nick; sisters, Melissa Robertson and Kristi Roy; brother, Trevor Proctor; nephew, Ethan Robertson-Neaves; birth father, Jim Proctor, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Melanie was predeceased by her birth mother; Valerie Burbine of River Hebert; her maternal grandparents, Chris and Doris Wheeler, Corner Brook, Newfoundland and her paternal grandparents, Jim and Sadie Robertson, North Grant.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16 in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish from 2-4 and 7-9pm.  Funeral service will be held Friday, May 17, at 10am at the funeral home. Interment to follow in St. Ninian’s Cemetery.  In Memoriam, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or CARMA Antigonish.  Online condolences:  www.clcurry.com

Special thank you to Billy Joe Tait, the paramedics, Dr. Maureen Allen and the ER staff of St. Martha’s Hospital who fought so hard to save our Melanie.
