Richard James "Dick" Glencross
Glencross, Richard James "Dick", 78, of Antigonish passed away peacefully on June 24, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.
Born on September 7, 1940, in Washington, DC, he was the son of late Wilfred Walter and Evelyn Rudge (Adams) Glencross.
Dick was proprietor of the Cottage Store Restaurant and Catering for over 40 years. He was especially proud of his long service to the students of St. Francis Xavier University. His routine and business picked up each fall with the arrival of football training camp. Dick had many fond memories of his interaction with students, many of whom he employed during their time in Antigonish. Dick was an avid sports fan, and his love of the outdoors was evident to all who embraced his company. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dick was also a man who led by quiet example. His long service and leadership of 34 years with the Antigonish Fire Department is one example of his dedication to his community.
Dick is survived by Betty, his wife of 55 years; sons, John, Montreal; Richard (Karen), Bangor, Maine; Robert, Bamfield, BC; and Troy (Angela), St. Andrews; daughter, Karen (Glenn Russell), New Ross; grandchildren, Lily Ann, Fort McMurray, AB; Jack, Antigonish; Morgan, Portland, Maine; Colin, Bangor, Maine; Robert, Arizona; Gracie, Antigonish; and Sawyer, Antigonish; sisters, Roberta Wittstock, Antigonish and Patricia (Joe) Christie, Dartmouth.
