The death of Cornelius ‘Keith` Van Den Broek of Glen Road, occurred on July 18, 2019 in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish,

 

Born in Opmeer, The Netherlands, he was the son of the late Antonius and Anna (Stam) Van Den Broek.

 

Keith emigrated to Canada through Pier 21 in 1956. He boarded the train from Halifax to Sydney where he lived until 1961 when he purchased a farm in Glen Road, Antigonish County where he farmed and worked as a pulp cutter.

 

He is survived by his former wife, Mary Louise (Lordly), Antigonish; daughters: Ann (Craig Corbett), Central Caribou; Josephine, Antigonish; Linda (Alan) MacLeod, Antigonish; Joan, Dartmouth; Rosie (George) Bowles, Antigonish; Margie (Dale Villeneuve), Edmonton; son, Kevin, Toronto; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister, Lena, Holland; long time companion, Anita Greencorn; several nieces and nephews.

 

Predeceased by son, Peter; grandson in infancy; brothers, Piet and Frans.

 

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. Burial will take place Monday July 22 at 2 pm in St. Joseph’s Cemetery followed by a reception in the community centre.
