Purdy, John Duncan, age 78, formerly of Pinevale, Antigonish
County, passed away on July 20, 2019, in High-Crest Sherbrooke Home
for Special Care.
Born in Timmons, Ontario, he was a son of the late Margaret
"Peggy" (MacDonald) and Robert Purdy.
Duncan had a diverse and interesting career, working as a
police officer in Antigonish, a truck driver, silviculturist, school
bus driver, machine operator, and taxi driver, and he had many stories
and friendships throughout Nova Scotia stemming from them
all. While working at Stora, he gained the nickname
"6/49" because of his retirement plan. Duncan was
calm, soft-spoken, and easy-going and was always ready with a joke or
a helping hand. Growing up on a farm, he had a deep love for
the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be
dearly missed by his two pups, Casey and Nikki.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (MacPherson), children,
Shawn (Brandy Martel), Ottawa; Tracey, Limoges, ON; Kelly (Brendan)
Hemens, Edmonton; Darryl (Stacey MacNeil), Montreal; and Stephanie
(Chad Fraser), Coquitlam, BC; grandchildren, Ashley, John, Justine,
Rory, Chloe, Paul, Moira, Willow, Shamus, Breagha, Aislinn, and Zoe;
sister, Mary Lee, Vancouver; and brother, Angus (Margie),

Predeceased by his brother, Gene.
