MacPhail, A. Jerome - Antigonish/Fraser’s Grant, It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Alexander "Jerome" MacPhail, age 80, at Martha’s Regional Hospital on July 29, 2019 surrounded by his family and friends.

Born in Fraser’s Grant, Antigonish County, he was the son of the late John and Christina (Punch) MacPhail.

Jerome was a carpenter by trade who worked with several contractors over the years, where he met many life long friends. He showed a keen interest in sports. Recently attending a Toronto Blue Jays game was one of his highlights. If the Maple Leafs were on ice, forget about getting the remote! He played in the Rural League for many years as a young fellow, and had many fond memories of those days gone by. An avid card player, he always looked forward to a good game at the kitchen table with family and friends. He spent many hours fishing and hunting and was known for his "great shot". Tim’s was a big part of his morning routine, having coffee and meeting friends. Jerome was always there to give a helping hand whether it be family, friends or for a community event. He will be remembered for his quick wit, and soft chuckle.

He will be dearly missed his wife of forty-four years, Anne (Wallace); son Derrick (Krista) and daughter Leah (Ed MacDonald) both of Fraser’s Grant and Melissa (Jason MacDonald) of Pomquet; grandsons: Dante, Barrett, Cohen, Landon and Greysen; sisters: Catherine MacDonnell and Theresa (Doug) Grace both of St. Andrews; Jean Grant, Toronto and Anna MacPhail, Antigonish; sisters in law, Theresa MacPhail and Donna Chisholm both of Heatherton.

Predeceased by sister, Elaine; brothers: Billy, Danny and Allan; sister in law, Rowena and brothers in law, Alex MacDonnell and Rory Grant.

Visitation will be in C. L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Friday at 11:00am with Reverend Andrew Gillies presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.

Donations in memory may be made to N.S. Heart &Stroke Foundation; Alzheimer’s Society or the R.K. MacDonnald Nursing Home Foundation. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com.
