Robbins (Gough), Dorothy Jane, 77

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Dorothy Jane (Gough) Robbins of Antigonish, Nova Scotia on July 26, 2019 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Dorothy was born in Sydney, Cape Breton and raised in East Bay.

Dorothy taught in Grand Mira before moving to Montreal, where she worked at CN Rail until having her daughters. She and her family returned to Nova Scotia in 1976. Dorothy had a great sense of humour and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was great with children and babysat for family and friends over the years. She was an avid reader and had volunteered to teach others to read in Each One Teach One. Dorothy was a person of great faith. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Parish and was known for her prayers for others. Dorothy will be remembered for her laugh and wonderful smile. We, the family, would like to thank the staff of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home and the PCU doctors and staff at St. Martha’s Hospital for the wonderful care Dorothy received.

She is survived by her children, Marjorie Ann Robbins (Chris Worley Hixon), Los Angeles; and Barbara Ann Stegemann (Mike Velemirovich), Halifax; grandchildren, Victor Stegemann and Ella Webster; and her special friend, Jarvis Young. She leaves behind her brother, Patrick Gough; and sisters, Viola (Ivan) Doncaster, Maureen (Sonny) MacLeod, Cecilia (Peter) Rossetti, Theresa (Bernie) Janega, Stella (Tony) MacPhee, Martha (Gary) Hood, Catherine (Doug) MacArthur, and her 30 surviving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, James Gough and Lavinia (Hamlet) Gough; step-mother, Barbara (Doyle) Gough; brother, Jim Gough; and her sisters-in-law, Theresa (MacIntyre) Gough and Angela (Brace) Gough.

Visitation will be held on Sunday August 4 at 9:30 am followed by a service at 10:30 am in the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.  Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Halifax.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Parish.
