Jack, Fred Irvin, passed away on
October 2, 2019 in St Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish
with his family by his side.
Born in the Village of St. Mary’s River,
Guysborough Couty on December 9, 1929, he was the son of the late
Andrew and Margaret (Fernanders) Jack.
Fred spent nineteen years as a Councillor for St.
Mary’s Municipality. Over the years, he was engaged in the
clam business, owned a grocery store, worked with Porter’s
Dredging as well as with Conrad’s on the Murray McKay
Bridge. He was an avid hunter and loved bowling. He had faith and
trust in the Lord Jesus and loved to attend church where he sang and
played guitar and mouth organ.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Jean
(Mailman); son, Myles Jack, Dartmouth; brothers: Gilbert (Carol),
Halifax; John, Sonora; Vincent (Evelyn), Upper Musquodobit; sisters:
Pearl (Ray), Sonora; Ruby (Doug), London, Ont.; Phyllis (Harold),
Antigonish.
He was predeceased by sisters Esther and Rose; brothers Louis
and James.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation on Sunday, October
6th in Antigonish Baptist Church from 1;00 pm
to time of funeral at 2:00 pm with Pastor Todd Cameron officiating,
assisted by Reverend Jeff Reason.
