MacPherson, Veronica, age 87, of William’s Point, Antigonish County passed away on October 7, 2019 surrounded by her children in the supportive and caring Palliative Care Unit of St Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Wood’s Island, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Hickey) Hynes.
Veronica worked in food preparation at St Martha’s Hospital for many years. Among the things she enjoyed were swimming at St. F.X pool, walking, playing cards, and doing sudokos. Veronica always called ‘a spade a spade’, but she had a heart of gold. She faithfully sponsored three children through the Chalice program and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was an active member of St. Ninian’s CWL. While William’s Point was her home, Veronica was a proud Newfoundlander and never forgot her roots.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by children: Martina (Dave) Kelly, Antigonish; Mary (Buckie) Bowman, Afton; Wayne (Cindy) MacPherson, Shubenacadie; Cory MacPherson, William’s Point; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
