Charlotte Elizabeth Mattie

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Charlotte Elizabeth Mattie, age 70, of Monastery, Antigonish Co. which occurred in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on February 8, 2020.

Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late James "Jimmy" Frederick and Rita Elizabeth (Bonvie) Mattie.

Charlotte played a vital role in the family businesses over the years. She and her husband John were members of the Wild Blueberry Producers Association of Nova Scotia from whom they were honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Many will remember Charlotte from being present with John at the Antigonish Farmer’s Market and the Mabou Market. For many years she carried out the office duties for Mattie Bros. Construction and Wild & Blue Farms Ltd. She was active in her church as a member of St Peter’s CWL, a member of St. Peter’s Parish Council and a member of St. Peter’s Church Choir. She also volunteered her time as a member of Tracadie Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary where she could be depended upon to capably handle any task at hand.

She liked to read, listen to music and play cards. She especially liked taking money from her brothers in poker. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grand children and her great grandson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, John; her children: Michelle, Dwayne (Chrissy) and Wanda all of Monastery ; grandchildren: Samantha Cheney (Graeme), Morgan, Ethan; great grandson, Finn; sister, Carol Schembri, BC; brothers: Michael (Anne), Stellarton; Basil (Elaine), Tracadie; Bernie (Karen), Port Hawkesbury; Robert, Halifax; Ralph (Donalda), Tracadie; sisters in law, Marie Mattie, Kingston, Dorothy Mattie, Tracadie; aunt, Ethel (Bonvie) Landry, West Arm Tracadie and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
