Archie MacDonald, 77, of St. Andrews, Antigonish County,
passed away on May 27th at St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish after a courageous
battle with cancer.
Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Donald Allan
"Finn" and Jessie MacDonald.
Archie (Finn) worked 52 years as a bricklayer and was
involved in many construction projects in Northern Nova
Scotia. At new schools, hospitals, and more you would find
him on scaffolding practicing his trade.
His work ethic and humor were renowned, and he was usually
one of the last on site of a finished project.
He spent his free time in his woodlot teaching life lessons
to his sons, spending time with his granddaughter, helping family and
friends in any way that he could. He was kind, charitable,
soft spoken, and a hard worker.
Archie is survived by his sons, James, Sarnia, ON; Dwayne,
St. Andrews; Darren, Halifax; granddaughter, Elizabeth, Halifax;
brothers: Allan (Sandy), Halifax; Donnie (Angie), Langley BC; Claude
(Jane) Calgary AB; Doug (Joan), St. Andrews; Shaun (Jackie), St.
Andrews; sisters, Diane (Dave), Calgary, AB; Betty, Calgary AB; and
many nieces and nephews.
Archie is predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Frances;
sister, Rose; brother, Earl (Elaine); and brother-in-law,
Lawrie.
